BROWN
FORMER NATIONAL coach Carl Brown could be Waterhouse Football Club's next head coach.
Rumours about the possible move had begun after Waterhouse were left coachless with the tragic passing of one of Jamaica's biggest football icons, Peter Cargill.
Cargill died in a bus accident on his way to Montego Bay where his team was scheduled to play in a Wray and Nephew National Premier League two weeks ago.
INTERIM HEAD COACH
Since that time, the interim head coach has been Max Straw who served under Cargill during his short tenure at the club.
Investigations done by The Gleaner failed to confirm Brown's appointment.
Waterhouse's press officer, David Henry, said: "That is not confirmed yet. I've heard it before but for now there is nothing to it."
Waterhouse president Peter Hibbert was less forthcoming, saying a new coach wasn't something he was willing to discuss just yet.
"I took a decision that I wouldn't discuss coaching until Peter has been laid to rest," said the Waterhouse head man.
However, he did say contact had been made with the Brown.
"Carl had always been a good friend of Peter and I know that they discussed the team from time to time," Hibbert said.
"For that reason Carl was asked to speak to the team and he did so."
Brown, who has disappeared from the public eye since being asked to vacate his position as head coach of the national team after the failed 'Road to Germany campaign', was tight-lipped about the situation with Waterhouse saying: "I am not going to talk about anything at all to do with football for the next six weeks."
EXTENDED STAY
Brown's statement indicates that even if he is to get back in the saddle with Waterhouse, assistant Straw is looking at an extended stay as head coach.
"Max did a good job on Sunday (a 4-0 victory against Arlington), so you never know," said Hibbert.
