MASON
WORLD RATED high jumper Germaine Mason is set to return to action after more than a year on the sideline.
Mason, along with six other MVP club athletes including
the world's top sprinter, Asafa Powell, and World Championships silver medallist Brigitte Foster-Hylton, will be taking part in next week's Félix Sánchez Invitational in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, set for next Saturday.
Mason's coach, Stephen Francis, said: "He (Mason) is healthy and ready to go," he said of his charge who hasn't competed since March of last year.
Francis said Mason will not be under any pressure to jump too high.
ALREADY QUALIFIED
"I don't think we going to try higher than 2.15m and take it from there. He has already qualified for the World Championships from his indoor performances last year," Francis said.
"I expect by the trials he should go 2.20s - 2-30s," Francis said.
Olympic Games sprint relay gold medallist Sherone Simpson, sprinter hurdler Suzan Dickerson and sprinter Sherika Williams are the other athletes down for the meet.
Powell, who reached the final of the 200m in Athens last summer, will compete in this event.
Simpson will line-up in the women's 200m, Foster-Hylton is down for the 100m.
Williams and Dickerson are set for the 400m and 100m hurdles respectively.
