Alleged serial killer slain in shoot-out
published: Wednesday | May 11, 2005

WESTERN BUREAU:

A SERIAL killer who was wanted in connection with eight murders committed in St. James between November 2004 and earlier this month was fatally shot during an alleged shoot-out with the police at Porto Bello, near Montego Bay, yesterday.

The dead man, said to be a St. James-based street person, was identified only as 'Tuff Chest'. The police said the deceased has had a long history of preying on homeless persons in the Second City.

A .357 Magnum and five live rounds were reportedly taken from him following the incident.

"He has been linked to eight homicides but he has been positively identified in four," said Superintendent John Morris, crime chief for the Area One Police Division.

"All of his victims were stabbed. It would appear as if he was a crazed and heartless person. Based on our information, he was easily upset especially if he thought that he was being disrespected."
