Louise Valle (left) and her mother Edith Jarbeau chat with Lawayne Kolbusch, president of The International Proxy Parents (IPP). They were attending the IPP's Annual Spring Ball 2005, 'Wings of Hope', held at the Hilton Kingston Hotel, Knutsford Boulevard, New Kingston, on Saturday night. - WINSTON SILL/FREELANCE PHOTOGRAPHER

MY DEARS, it's definitely the season to be fabulous, as it's that time of the year again when the well-to-do, head off for Europe for a little continental R and R, and sweet-things they are!

Last Sunday was celebrated the world over, however, as Mother's Day, and children, from Morant Point all the way to Negril's West End, this here island was in the throes of Mother's Day celebrations. and dovecakes, everybody simply went to town and then some, as they marked this special day, with breakfasts, brunches, dinners, teas, and fabulous presents, to the matriarchs all around.

Now dears, if you were in Kingston, the restaurant of choice for the sophisticated and those with that discriminating palate, was and without a doubt, Velisa's over there on Devon Road, as pumpkins, the place has the only fabulous food in town!

Sweet-things, if y'all have never heard of, and or tried the yam soufflé, at this fabulous lunch and dinner spot, then hate yourselves!

Luvs, on the life of this here Mont Blanc, we are talking orgasmically fabulous here and then some! Oh sweet-potato-pone, what a culinary epiphany!

Dears, haven't got a clue as to why anything so fabulous is named a yam soufflé, but for my word, this here writer's palate has never ever been blessed with such a dish as this one, in all the trips paid to various restaurants and eateries across the globe, and aaah do declare, we have sampled the very best!

My dears, the 'yam-soufflé' is serving of lobster tails, set in a most awesomely wickedly delicious soufflé of yam, but dears, y'all have never tasted anything as absolutely and breathtakingly delicious as this here symphony of taste! Oh, my word, and with a dozen hail Mary's, as dearhearts, this is most certainly food for the Gods, and most certainly an esoteric rapture!

Luvs, the chef here is the fabulous Betty Delfosse-Ingleton, and as you can guess, she is definitely not giving this here recipe away, but honeys, its worth a king's ransom in gold, and then some!

And then to add to the beauty of this here palate-pleaser, is the fact that indeed, the fabulous restaurant, is and without question, one of Kingston's best-kept secrets! And luvs, I kid y'all not at all, but trust moi, this place serves up some of the finest dishes, ever created for those with that discriminating palate, as it is most definitely the place for those whose palates favour the cuisine a la grandmère, or the froufrou, as this is decidedly highbrow and fabulously so!

Dears, more definitely anon, on this here culinary phenomenon as dears, believe you moi, Kingston has never seen anything like this, so there!

SMART AND INTIMATE

Then last Monday, social empress, the oh so grand Thalia Lyn, and her hubby, Capt. Michael Lyn, threw a smart and very intimate dinner party at their marvellous Old Stony Hill home, in honour of the visiting British High Commissioner to Panama, H.E. Jim Malcolm and his wife the charming Sheila Malcolm, that was as fab as fabulous gets in its intimacy and absolute charm.

Dears, those of you in the know, will remember Jim and Sheila Malcolm, from their days with the British High Commission here, before they moved on to Panama, to take up duties as head of their country's mission there. Well dearhearts, the Malcolms have not lost any of their savvy and or fabulous sense of élan, and in this respect, the dinner party, cosy and intimate as it was, made for a fabulous outing and delightful society too.

Dears, amid the laughter, cocktails, dinner and aperitifs, it was one very charming evening, as guests reminisced, and not just about the good old days when the Malcolms were here in Kingston. There were a number of international visitors who, having not visited the island for over 30 years, made for interesting dinner partners as they rummaged through their social files and memories to recall and share some fabulous bon mots with fellow guests and it made for a very special do and fabulously so!

Sadly, High Commissioner Jim and Sheila Malcolm departed our shores, after a week, but promises to return anon.

And then luvs, y'all know it's the continental season, and so with the French Open getting started in Paris on our Labour Day, already the flights across the Atlantic are in full demand as the fabulous and well-to-do, jet out for their annual European sojourn.

Well my dears, it seems that indeed, the preferred destination this here season is definitely the South of France and generally along the Mediterranean coastline.

Well dears, this is where the fabulous Thalia Lyn and Hubby Capt. Michael Lyn are to be found as we speak, as indeed, the charmingly fab couple jetted out of Kingston on Wednesday of this week, following upon a series of high-profile social engagements, that should stand them in good stead, until they return to the island towards the end of the month, or the beginning of the next.

Also to be found in the Mediterranean this time on his luxury yacht will be the jet-setting mega-wealthy billionaire Michael Lee-Chin, who will be vacationing in that part of the world this season.

CHAMPAGNE WISHES

Then Tony Cortizas and his wife the fabulous Julie Seaga Cortizas are expecting their second bundle of joy from the stork, later this year.

The fabulous Jacqueline Holding, of C&W celebrated her special day last week. The celebrations, however, were a private affair restricted to immediate friends.

Champagne wishes all around.

And people are still talking about last weekend's fabulous International Proxy Parents (IPP) annual ball, and dears it was all fab. Mon congrats to IPP President Lawayne Kolbusch and Erica Downer of the organising committee, on a fabulous job.

And dears, the wedding date has been set, so now wait for this one as it promises to be one flawless shindig and then some, so more anon!
