Kensington's Hinds fails to spark
published: Tuesday | May 17, 2005

Perry took two wickets - FILE

WEST INDIES opener Wavell Hinds had a miserable time out in the middle as Kensington were rocked by Kingston in their drawn Supreme Ventures Super Cup fixture at Kensington Oval at the weekend.

Hinds made 27 in Kensington's paltry first innings total of 68, this replying to Kingston's 197 all out.

Asked to follow on, Kensington got up to 212 all out with Hinds scoring only six. The chief rungetters were Marcus Stewart 41 and Kevin Peart 31.

Young pacer Roy Williams was the main destroyer in that game, boasting figures of 4-49 in the first innings and 3-47 in the second. He got good support from Audley Sanson, who claimed five wickets in the match (3-19 and 2-28) and Nehemiah Perry, who took two second innings wickets.

Kingston were 33 for two when stumps were drawn.

Meanwhile, at Alpart, rain came to the rescue of St. Catherine CC, who were precariously perched at 17-2 chasing 203 for victory.

Earlier, St. Elizabeth posted 148, batting first to which the Saints replied with 69 out of which Bevon Brown scored 43. Tinselly Goof was the point bowler, taking 5-20.

Batting a second time St. Elizabeth got up to 123-9 declared with only Kenny Williams (50) and Damion Ebanks (32) scoring well against Neil Richards (3-30) and Brown (3-37).

At Lucas, the game between the home side and Manchester also ended in a draw with Manchester taking first innings points.

Manchester batted first and posted 204 with Mathew Sinclair (55) and Orville Pennant (43) making most runs against Anshuman Kentish 3-34.

In reply Lucas fell for 90 as Donovan Sinclair claimed 5-28. Following on 110 runs behind, Lucas were 43-3 when the game ended.
