IT IS one of those groups which has dared to reach out to the unsaved, seeking to connect with them in whatever state they are in, wherever they can be found.
The Faith Anointed Ministries, which was formed by Howard 'Goddy Goddy' Reynolds, has been in operation for four years, moving through various inner-city communities, ministering and spreading the word of God.
"The Lord placed an inner-city ministry on my heart, to go and minister, but I realised that I couldn't do it alone so I started to recruit people. First I started by getting together a music band, called 'The Warfare Band'. This band was responsible for the musical side of the ministry," 'Goddy Goddy' explained.
OUTREACH PROGRAMMES
The name Faith Anointed came from 'Goddy Goddy's' own sound system, which plays gospel music in inner-city communities, and is a ministry that engages in outreach programmes in schools, churches and communities in Jamaica and the Caribbean.
The core of the Faith Anointed Ministries includes Howard 'Goddy Goddy' Reynolds, drummer Orville Housen; bass guitarist Douglas Berry, keyboardist Christopher Wright, back-up vocalist Kerry-Ann Pinnock and road manager and prayer warrior Latoya Reynolds.
The group has been to a number of communities, collaborating with the churches there. Some of these communities include Beeston Street, Matthews Lane, Waterhouse, Olympic Way, Mountain View, Maxfield and Warika Hill.
"We go the extra mile of actually being on the roadside with these people. I personally prefer this, because we can reach the 'worst set', as people term them, because these people don't want to come into the church itself, so we have to go to them and therefore we are better able to reach them," said Kerry-Ann Pinnock.
For Douglas Berry, the ministry has been a good experience as he has seen a lot of young men who could have otherwise become criminals turn their lives over to Christ.
"I think we are creating a good impact on these inner-city communities and our aim now is to go wider and win more souls at any cost," Berry said.
ENGAGEMENTS
The Faith Anointed Ministries has a number of engagements both locally and internationally.
Tomorrow, the group will be at an Emancipation Park concert, before heading out to a crusade in Old Harbour. Then it will be on to a crusade at Heroes Circle on June 11, before making a stop in Brown's Town, St. Ann, for Wyatt K.C. Davis' concert on June 18.
On the international scene, the group is scheduled to minister at a number of locations, starting in November. Some of these stops include the Cayman Islands, Antigua, Tortilla and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
SONGS DOING WELL
"The response, I know, is going to be great in these places, because the songs on our CD (Warfare) have been doing well on the charts and the people have been hearing us and now they want to see us," 'Goddy Goddy'said.
They are also gearing up to work on their next album, which will feature only the group, as the first album was primarily a 'Goddy Goddy' one.
"The next album will be the full hundred, a Faith Anointed one. Kerry-Ann will have songs on it for herself and the Warfare Band will do all the tracks. So, in the meantime, we will continue to focus on our outreach
programmes and we can be reached at faithanointed@hotmail.com," 'Goddy Goddy' said.
