SPANISH TOWN:
GOALS FROM Roen Nelson and an Arlington defender carried Portmore United to a 2-0 victory over Arlington in their Wray and Nephew NPL encounter at the Spanish Town Prison Oval yesterday.
The match, which was played before a fair-sized crowd, saw an even exchange in the first half which ended 0-0.
However, upon resumption, Dave Powell of Arlington put Portmore in the lead after attempting to clear a pass by Nelson but instead hit the ball into the back of the net in the 50th minute.
Nelson shrugged off his marker in the 60th minute and scored a beautiful left footer which gave the Arlington's 'keeper no chance. For the rest of the game both teams played kick-and-run football but faulty finishing from the forwards saw the scoreline remain the same.
