Island Grill invests in Cross Roads
published: Friday | June 3, 2005

LYN

ISLAND GRILL restaurant chain is opening an outlet next week in Cross Roads, St. Andrew.

Located at 1 Retirement Road in the Empire building, the same location where 19-year-old Gladstone Chang, the father of Island Grill's CEO, Thalia Lyn, launched his business career as manager of the newly opened Empire Grocery Store.

Upstairs her grandfather, Joseph Chang, started his first business venture, a restaurant no less! From this was spawned the Chang Group of Companies.

That was in 1935, and 70 years later, the family has come full circle with Island Grill investing over $28 million in this location.

There is seating for 47 persons in a relaxed air conditioned environment, and a staff of 45 will be employed.

The Cross Roads' branch is the 12th in the Island Grill chain, with two additional outlets (one on the south coast) which will be opened later in 2005, bringing the number to 14 Island Grills islandwide.
