WESTERN BUREAU:

THE KINGSTON-BASED Coldwell Banker Jamaica Reality has spread it wings to the tourism town of Montego Bay. The realty company officially opened its Montego Bay office at the Montego Bay Shopping Centre last weekend.

Speaking to the more than 50 real estate agents and well-wishers gathered for the occasion at its new office, Andrew Issa, broker and owner of Coldwell Jamaica, said that the opening represented another step in increasing Coldwell Banker's service across the island.

"It is fantastic to know that we can also sell (Jamaican) properties ... in Florida, the United States and through the Coldwell Banker network anywhere in the world," he said.

While this is the first office to be opened in Montego Bay this is not the first time that Coldwell Jamaica has sold real estate in western Jamaica. In fact, the four-year-old company has snagged sales rights to some of the prime properties in Montego Bay.

"In western Jamaica we represent Tryall and Round Hill," Mr. Issa said. "We are going to be representing the Palmyra Hotel, which is a five-star condominium resort, and we also have the new Pristine Harbour Developments."

Palmyra Hotel is in the Rose Hall area of St. James, while Pristine Harbour is in Montego Bay Freeport.

Noting the company's ability to service a wide range of properties, Mr. Issa said, "We have agents who specialise in Portmore, we have agents who specialise in resort properties so our (Montego Bay) office manager or myself is going to assign an agent that works within your price range and within the area you are looking."

The Montego Bay branch will be a satellite office through which all transactions will be passed to the Kingston headquarters, but with the added touch of in-house consultations. The office will be run by a separate office manager and have its own staff attuned to the needs of property owners in the west.
