Dr Notice should quit as councillor too
published: Sunday | June 19, 2005

THE EDITOR, Sir:

AS FAR as I am concerned, Dr. Raymoth Notice was never elected by the Jamaican people as Mayor of Spanish Town but as councillor for his division. Dr. Notice became mayor because he was able to command the support of the majority of the JLP councillors in the St. Catherine Parish Council, with the blessing of the leadership of the Jamaica Labour Party.

Notice's resignation as mayor (only) is really political manipulation. Dr. Notice and the JLP leadership take us for fools. Dr. Notice also needs to resign as the parish councillor for his division. This is the appropriate thing to do.

I am, etc.,
