THE SUAREZ Circus which was slated to open in Kingston last Friday could get the 'green light' to open its doors to the public today after an inspection is performed by the Engineering Department of the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation (KSAC) to ensure that all regulatory requirements have been met.
Marlon Burke, chief executive officer of Shamar Enterprises Ltd. which owns the franchise for the Suarez Brothers Circus in the Caribbean, is optimistic that all the kinks have been worked out.
"I believe we have met all the requirements,he told The Gleaner yesterday. "We've submitted a blueprint of the amusement site to the KSAC, so we're fairly confident that all will go well today and I will know when we can officially open."
PLAN ABORTED
The planned opening had been aborted after the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation (KSAC) announced that the organisers had failed to secure the necessary permits. Last week, Mayor of Kingston Desmond McKenzie chided the organisers for illegally placing several flyers and posters across the city. He, however, indicated that the KSAC was prepared to expedite its approval process once the circus organisers followed the regulations.
Efforts to get a comment from Mayor McKenzie were unsuccessful.
