DCP Tilford Johnson to retire
published: Tuesday | July 12, 2005

Glenroy Sinclair, Staff Reporter

AFTER 40 years of distinguished service to the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), Deputy Commissioner Tilford George Johnson will today say goodbye to the organisation, as he prepares to go on pre-retirement leave.

"I am going on nine months vacation leave," DCP Johnson confirmed yesterday.

Mr. Johnson, who hails from the garden parish of St. Ann, is among several senior officers who will be going off on pre-retirement leave over the next eight months, a move that will leave a vacuum in the top brass of the JCF.

Widely respected, Mr. Johnson who enlisted in the JCF in 1965, has served in the parish of Portland, and also in several areas in Kingston.

He also served as commanding officer at the Mobile Reserve. Reports are that Assistant Commissioner Linval Bailey, who has returned from study leave, will replace DCP Johnson.
