MEMBERS OF the prestigious law firm Nunes Scholefield DeLeon & Co. (NSD), were in a celebratory mood last Friday evening as they gathered to toast clients and celebrate their 75th anniversary.
The event which had been postponed because of the passage of Hurricane Emily, took place poolside at the Terra Nova Hotel in St. Andrew.
It was not an occasion for much talk as was demonstrated by the very brief remarks of Managing Partner, Tony Jenkinson, who said the anniversary would be year long and include a scholarship to a student at the Norman Manley Law School, a special anniversary lecture and culminate with a long service awards function later in the year.
Clients from all walks of life mingled with special guests and partners of the firm headed by senior partner Trevor DeLeon, Donovan Jackson, Alexander Cools-Lartigue, Lowel Morgan, Shelly-Anne Forte, Maurice Manning, Georgia Gibson-Henlin and Camille Busby-Earle.
One of Jamaica's leading law firms, NSD has seen a succesion of partnerships since 1929 and continues to offer a wide range of services in most areas of practice. These include: civil litigation, intellectual property, real estate, finance, commercial and many more.
Between nibbles and drinks, some guests talked of humid conditions while others contemplated the rest of the hurricane season, and yet others caught up on the latest happenings while the more academic stuck to the implications of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ).
Entertainment was provided by budding comedian Lemon and Craig Ross from the Meritones.
Those joining in the celebration included: Natalie and Winston Litchmore; John Hall, Steve Twoomy; Sheron Glizene; Karen Bhoorasingh; Stanley Williams, Norma Chin See; Ann Ventura; Grace Wyatt; Tammy Bryan; Dalton Phillips; Blondell Hue; Keith Summers; Newton and Sonia Barnes; Barrington Watson, Becky Stockhausen; Grace McKoy; Andrew Folkes; Royland Campbell; Sharon Spence; Mark Bowen Everton Davis; Lorraine and Neville Clarke; Marcia Dwyer, Opal Clarke and several others.
