Ambrosia - in name and taste!

IF THE people behind the name Ambrosia Restaurant and Bar at the Acropolis Gaming Suites in Barbican, wanted a more appropriate name for an eatery, they could not have done any better.

Among the listed meanings of the word ambrosia is: 'anything very pleasing to taste or smell.'

And from the comments heard from those who sampled the range of menu items, they have succeeded.

So, from all accounts, the launch of the restaurant was a success.

Some firm menu favourites included old-fashioned Greek salad; queen of hearts salad with lemon herb oil and spicy crab and cream cheese-filled spring rolls with soy ginger dipping sauce. And they make a mean rum punch!

ATMOSPHERE

Ambrosia's clientele will be greeted by Karen Clarke and a team of pleasant and helpful staff who offer drinks and hints for playing the games at the Acropolis.

But, best of all, the atmosphere presents a bird's eye view of the activities as well as the sights and sounds of busy machines gobbling up or churning out money.

The launch was an occasion for Supreme Ventures and Prime Sports to feel proud of their achievements.

Brian George, who heads the operation, was in an understandably upbeat mood with his company having achieved what he described as, "the largest single private placement in the history of the Jamaican market."

He said it is a manifestation of the people's confidence and part of the idea that began with the dream of Paul Hoo, the late Peter Stewart and Ian Levy.

"We have now taken that to a new level of entertainment and we hope that in keeping with our motto, you will come for the food and stay for the games," he said in welcoming guests to the launch.

He encouraged guests to make Ambrosia Restaurant and Bar an extreme and supreme success.
