Portmore women whip H View
published: Sunday | August 7, 2005

PORTMORE UNITED put an end to Harbour View's run of good form when they thumped them 2-0 in Wednesday's feature game of the Sherwin Williams Women's Football League at the Racing Oval.

First half goals by Venecia Reid (eighth minute) and Shevanice Black (25th) coupled with sturdy defending for most of the game, helped the home team to a complete shut out of the visitors to secure themselves all three points from the round three fixture.

In the day's other games, a hat-trick from Madola Chase and two goals each from Elizabeth Vassell, Tennecia Reid, Shern Maxwell and a goal apiece from Yanique Goldspring and Jodi-Ann McGregor led Barbican to a comprehensive 11-0 thrashing of Brown's Town at Barbican complex.

At Drewsland, Waterhouse blew away Olympic Gardens 9-4 courtesy of a five-goal haul by Yanique Simmon and two goals each from Natalia Manyon and Omolyn Davis.

Led by two goals from Andrea Duffus and Latoya Daley, Maverley got by newcomers Eclipse United 7-1.

Other goalscorers for Maverley included Leanora Kelly, Racheel Allen and Petrina McDonald who had one goal each, while Tadian Daley scored a consolation strike for the visitors.

In other action, Untouchable Strikers got by St Catherine Upliftment 3-1 at Jarrett Park, while a second-half double strike by substitute Salee Lewis saw Rae Town defeat Meadhaven 2-0 at Breezy Castle.

Meanwhile, St Elizabeth Gemini blasted Trelawny 7-0.
