What a nightmare!

THE EDITOR, Sir:
IT IS with a deep sense of anger and frustration that I have written these lines. I have recently started to commute along the thoroughfares of Spanish Town Road and Marcus Garvey Drive and oh what a nightmare it has been.
I can tolerate deteriorating road surfaces and even being struck in traffic, but being abused verbally and contending with windscreen wiper boys damaging my motor vehicle because I refuse to have my windscreen cleaned, is an extremely horrifying experience.
Each morning as I approach Marcus Garvey Drive from the direction of Spanish Town, my brain goes into overdrive. What is it going to be, I ask myself as the young man with the worn out wiper approaches and imme-diately starts to wipe. I frantically plead "No, please do not wipe". Will he, this morning, break the wiper blades, hit the vehicle, spit on the vehicle or hurl expletives? In the evenings, on approaching the stop lights in the vicinity of the Tinson Pen airstrip, I am subjected to the same fate, only this time I am bombarded not by one or two but by several wipers as I sit helpless, frightened and await my fate.
I am, etc.,
FRIGHTENED MOTORIST
