Patrons sampling the variety of salads at Terra Nova's Sunday Brunch - IAN ALLEN/STAFF PHOTOGRAPHER
DO YOU feel like lying in bed on a Sunday morning forgetting the pots and pans in the kitchen? Well go ahead. Sunday Brunch at Terra Nova All Suite Hotel on Waterloo Road is back allowing you over 80 delectable menu items, and the added bonus of enjoying family time in a brand new setting.
A Sunday morning favourite in the corporate area brunch at the Terra Nova which has outgrown its pervious location on the terrace has been moved to The Venetian, the hotel's grande marquee (tent) located to the right of the property on entering.
Food and beverage and banqueting manager Arlene Wynter noted that the move was made to more adequately meet the needs of the hotel's growing clientele on a Sunday morning.
When Food stopped for brunch Sunday last, the Venetian was teeming with activity. The long lines of eager patrons, old timers and newcomers, indicated that brunch was back at in a big way.
DELICIOUS FAVOURITES
Topping the menu list were several Jamaican favourites: Peppered shrimp, sautéed potatoes, mackerel rundown, three cheese macaroni, rice and peas, curry goat, jerk chicken, cow foot and beans, ackee and saltfish, Johnny cakes, steam calaloo, roast suckling pig, and boiled yellow yam. There was also a wide assortment of fruits and pastries - chocolate mousse, half and half chocolate and vanilla cake, sweet potato pudding, bread pudding, orange cake, blue berry cake, cheese cake and English truffle skilfully prepared by pastry cooks Nickeisha Nichols and Nakeda Myers.
It was a family affair for the Lees, Jennifer, husband Raymond and children Gillian and Matthew. Having enjoyed brunch on the terrace for the past four years, they were out enjoying the new setting with its floor to ceiling windows affording a perfect view of the outdoors while dining in air conditioned comfort. "Here is nice because of the air conditioning, but we also liked over there ( the terrace) because of the openness, we prefer to be in the garden," said Jennifer" "I like it inside because the flies don't bother me," piped in her husband Raymond.
Another regular patron Joan Lyn said she enjoyed Terra Nova's Sunday brunches that's why she was back. However she is in favour of the previous location because she likes to enjoy the cool breeze and the atmosphere was better.
Brunch at the Terra Nova is $1,500 per person plus service charge.
