THE EDITOR, Sir:TEN YEARS ago, when I was leaving St. George's College as vice-principal of religious affairs, I sent a formal letter to, and met with the board and old boys' association. I strongly recommended, and had the Jesuit Superior's blessing, that St. George's College (St.G.C.) turn co-ed, at least on the sixth Form level. It is with great joy to see how this dream has become something actual.
Nuff respect to the new St. George's College ladies! I call upon you to help St.G.C. boys to become gentlemen and to respect women. I guaranteed to the board and the old boys' association that St. George's would improve greatly, in both academic and social behaviour, if it turned co-ed.
As we all know our Jamaican boys and men need help. A female presence at St.G.C. is a brilliant move. Respect and blessings in this new chapter of Jesuit, Catholic education in Jamaica. This change has made me dream of how our Jamaican boys and young men would benefit immensely if the Catholic girl schools also turned co-ed at the sixth form level.
I am, etc.,
