KINGSTON HELD on to outlast Montego Bay 41-40 in a very hotly contested final of the inaugural Capital & Credit Securities sponsored Junior Team Tennis League on Sunday at the Eric Bell Tennis Centre.

Having both won their two previous ties over Mandeville and Ocho Rios on Saturday, the stage was set for a winner-take-all showdown between the heavyweights. It would be one that would go right down to the wire and with just one doubles game left to go, Kingston would trail 35-34.

Elad Campbell and Kristofer Martin would make sure that things did not end that way as they rallied from 1-4 down for a hard fought 7-5 victory over Kaswayne Nelson and young Winifred Weinbeer, to give the Corporate Area team the title.

In boys' singles action, Kingston were far more dominant and they made it three wins from as many games. Victories came for Campbell who got by Nelson 6-2, Tyler Chin who defeated Weinbeer 6-1 and Martin who edged past Andre Burrell 6-5. But in women's action the Montegonians made a clean sweep as Danielle Monteith got the better of Lauren Cameron with a 6-3 victory, while her teammate Pauline Hylton breezed past Calisia Reid 6-1.

HARD TO BEAT

In doubles play Reid and Cameron proved to be no match for Monteith and Hylton as they were blown away 6-0. Hylton had a much tougher time when she teamed up with Nelson as they barely got by the mixed doubles pairing of Reid and Campbell 7-5.

Kingston's Dax Vernon and Chin then teamed up for a 6-2 win over Andre Burell and Marcus Malcolm, before Campbell and Martin finished the job for the winners.

The tournament's previous ties had seen Kingston narrowly edge Ocho Rios 47-43 and hold a 30-3 lead over Mandeville which eventually forfeited the fixture, giving Kingston the win. MoBay beat Ocho Rios 45-29 and demolished Mandeville 54-6.
