THE EDITOR, Sir
Permit me to say a big thank you to the decision makers of the prestigious Gleaner Honour Awards. They have gone all out in selecting the five faith-based organisations for the 2005 Awards. They deserve it.
I trust that this is an indication that the society is recognising the value of the Christian Church in the building of the Jamaican society. Bishop Reid's response is dead on. Faith-based groups are working across the country. Those in rural Jamaica are not even seen and recognised by our authorities. They spend millions of dollars in social development ventures. A large percentage of this money represents the offerings of the poor.
I encourage all persons involved in faith-based initiatives to stay in the fight. Our struggle goes way beyond politicians, drug dons or murderers. We are fighting against the evil forces of this world - the principalities and powers - that seek to wreak havoc over economies like Jamaica.
Big-up to the Christian Church.
I am, etc.,
