KC get dream start
published: Saturday | December 3, 2005

Kwesi Mugisa, Staff Reporter

IT HAS been a dream start to the 2005 KFC-sponsored ISSA High School Basketball competition for Kingston College (KC)as they notched yet another impressive home win with a 79-38 thrashing of Camperdown at Kingston College yesterday.

This makes it the second home win in a row for the boys from North Street following a 45-16 stomping of St. Andrew Technical (STATHS) on Tuesday.

Once again it was captain Omari Green who led the way for the winners with a 22-point, eight-rebound performance.

HELP FROM TEAMMATES

Only this time he had more help from his teammates as Kemeron Cameron chipped in with 22 points and Dean Danverese added 19 to the tally. Camperdown's Charles Huang had 17 points in a losing effort.

For Camperdown, it was a failure to stop KC from scoring after driving through the open court which led to their downfall. Not having had a particularly good shooting performance, things were made a lot more difficult for them by the speed of the KC transition game. They quickly gathered the offensive rebounds and pushed the ball up court to score time and time again, while Camperdown were still flat-footed.

Meanwhile, Wolmer's are yet to take the court as for the second game in a row their opponents failed to show. On Tuesday it was Denham Town but yesterday it was Norman Manley who failed to answer the starting whistle. The team will now be hoping to get their season started when they travel to St. George's College on Tuesday.

Over in the Northern Conference, Ocho Rios got the better of York Castle 68-24, while in Central Conference play, Holmwood went down 56-44 to Clarendon.
