Jamaica Labour Party conference - Labourites warm up
published: Sunday | December 4, 2005

Jamaica Labour Party supporters greet Opposition Leader Bruce Golding as he enters the National Arena for the party's annual conference yesterday.

HUNDREDS OF proud Labourites in a festive mood, took over the National Arena yesterday, as the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) kicked off its 63rd annual national conference.

Party supporters started trickling into the arena from about nine o'clock in the morning. The crowd however, did not fill the national facility. There were a number of seats left empty, but those who were there, made quite a statement.

SPECTACULAR SIGHT

Donned in predominantly green outfits, including on the odd occasion even green hair, the crowd was a spectacular sight. Images of the smiling faces of JLP Members of Parliament were paraded around on the front of many supporters' T-shirts.

Slogans such as 'Bruce, full time now' and 'Andrew Gallimore, there is hope' were flashed across flags, pamphlets and badges.

Flyers with orange printing that were being handed out to the crowd, caught the attention of many. The flyers accused the ruling People's National Party of being involved in corrupt practices and suggested that it was time to "put them out".
