SPANISH TOWN, St. Catherine:
THREE MEN said to be members of the notorious Clansman gang were shot and killed in the past 48 hours.
They are Orane Sachell, 30, of 3 Corletts Road; Owen Williams, alias 'Christopher' of Cumberland, Portmore, St. Catherine, who was shot and killed about 7:00 p.m. Monday night; and Leonardo Miller of Lyncrest Avenue in Kingston.
Reports are that about 3:00 p.m. Monday, residents of Corletts Road, Spanish Town, heard explosions and saw a man running from Sachell's residence. The police later found him suffering from gunshot wounds. He succumbed to his injury.
UNKNOWN ASSAILANTS
In the Portmore incident, reports are that Williams, who is of a Lakes Pen address in the Clansman stronghold, went to the area to visit relatives. It is alleged that unknown assailants entered the yard and shot him several times.
In the third killing, which unfolded about 10:50 a.m. yesterday, Miller, who has relatives in the Lakes Pen area, was standing along the Salt Pond Road near the train line in Spanish Town when shots were heard. He was found suffering from gunshot wounds all over his body. He died on the spot.
When The Gleaner checked with the Spanish Town police, divisional detective, Inspector Derrick Champagnie, said he could confirm that Owen Williams was a member of the Clansman gang.
However, in the case of Sachell and Miller, the inspector said he could not prove that they were members, but that he had heard such suggestions since the shootings.
