THE EDITOR, Sir:
LET ME congratulate Minister Pickersgill for his insight and also his staff for bringing some sort of order and control at the Half-Way Tree 'mixing bowl'. I have to say since the Monday morning when this change went into effect, "Free at last, free at last, thank God almighty, free at last."
Jamaicans don't take well to change. This is a known fact, but for us all to progress, change will come and the minister stood his ground when he said the change will stay in effect with a constant review for further improvement.
There was just too much confusion along Eastwood Park Road. This place was like a 'No Man's land' at mornings and evenings, with the coasters and other types of mini buses ruling the roost and the road. They just did what they cared; total disorder.
I must also congratulate the help given by the Police department. They were on the spot to help and to advise motorists. This morning, December 9, all was smooth, so hopefully, all the naysayers will shut up and just go along with progress. Giving the JUTA and the other city buses their respective places was a wise and prudent decision. They all know where to park, thus stopping the run-jostling. There should be peace and quiet along the Half-Way Tree corridor come Christmas.
I am etc.,
