DUNCAN-SCOTT
DONNA DUNCAN-SCOTT, group executive director with special responsibility for Culture and Leadership for JMMB, has challenged the Government and all Jamaicans to make the turnaround/transformation of the country a top priority for 2006.
According to Mrs. Duncan-Scott, who passionately called for collective leadership and action, the key to this effective change lies in having accountable leaders who work for the benefit of all the people. She was speaking at the National Democratic Movement (NDM) tenth anniversary dinner held recently at the Terra Nova Hotel, St. Andrew.
In outlining the challenges facing Jamaica, Mrs. Duncan-Scott argued that the biggest problem facing Jamaica today was not crime and violence. "Our biggest problem is ineffective leadership on all our parts, that has allowed political tribalism to envelop our society: Crime is just a symptom of this ... political tribalism destroys the capacity of a society to work, it not only breeds corruption, but also provides for little accountability, little results, it eats away at the values upon which community is built."
