Jamaica's U-23 women beat Guyana
published: Wednesday | December 14, 2005

JAMAICA SECURED their first win of the West Indies Under-23 cricket tournament when they clipped Guyana by one wicket at the Inshan Ali Oval in Trinidad and Tobago yesterday.

Scores in the second-round match: Guyana 56 all out in 32.1 overs; Jamaica 57-9 off 39.4 overs.

Guyana found scoring hard as Jamaica's bowling trio of Jodi-Ann Morgan, 3-9 off 4.1 overs, Chadean Nation, 3-11 from seven overs, and Stefanie Taylor, 2-8, combined to dismiss the round-one winners Guyana, who benefitted from 21 wides.

MADE TO WORK HARD

In reply, Jamaica were made to work hard for their runs. Taylor top scored for the second time for the Jamaicans with 17 and she got support from Kadeth Kidd, who made 15 not out.

For Guyana, Anna Lewis claimed 3-10 and Indoma Goodial 2-9 and there were four run outs.

At Gilbert Park, Stacey-Ann King hit 42 not out as Trinidad and Tobago made 172-8 in 40 overs to beat St.Vincent who made 67 all out.

Jamaica, Trinidad, St.Vincent and Guyana all have three points.

In today's matches, Jamaica face Barbados at Gilbert Park while Trinidad host Guyana at Inshan Ali Oval.
