Jamaica crash to second defeat
published: Thursday | December 15, 2005

JAMAICA'S SHANEL Daley collapsed on the field while batting as her team crashed to its second defeat in the West Indies Under-23 women's cricket tournament yesterday.

Daley's illness caused distress among her teammates as they tumbled to a 50-run loss to Barbados in their match at Humphrey Gilbert Park.

The incident happened with Jamaica on 40 for two, at which stage Daley - while running a single with captain Vanessa Watts - collapsed and was rushed to hospital.

Daley recovered but did not return to the ground to complete her innings.

Barbados made 171-3 with Deandra Dotting, 72, and Charlene Tait, 48, putting on 128 runs for the third wicket. Both were dropped four times, the former twice in one over before reaching double figures.

Jamaica made 121 with Jodi-Ann Morgan scoring 26, Watts 17 and Stefanie Taylor 12. Tait had figures of 3-19.

In yesterday's other game Trinidad scored 101-8 on the last delivery of their innings to clip Guyana who made 100-6 in 40 overs.
