McKenzie, you missed the boat
published: Saturday | December 17, 2005

THE EDITOR, Sir:

KINGSTON AND St. Andrew mayor, Desmond McKenzie, and the Jamaica Labour Party-led KSAC, missed a grand opportunity of showcasing to the Jamaican electorate how transparency would play a prominent role in a government led by the Jamaica Labour Party.

The Mayor could have easily added a few more credits to his already good record of managing the tough KSAC if he'd gone along with the motion brought by council minority leader, Councillor Angella Brown-Burke.

The Mayor and his party have always been hounding the Government about it not being transparent in its handling of government contracts, so now it got the chance through Mayor McKenzie and the council he leads, to lead by example, but he did nothing but squander a great opportunity to show off that he practises what he preaches.

I am, etc.,
