Sarwan is Guyana's Cricketer of the Year
published: Sunday | December 18, 2005

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC:

WEST INDIES batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan captured the Clive Lloyd Trophy for Regional Cricketer of the Year when the Guyana Cricket Board held its Annual Awards Ceremony last week.

However, the 25-year-old right hander was unable to attend the ceremony and his father Kishan Sarwan accepted the award on his behalf, the Guyana Stabroek reported yesterday.

Sarwan smashed three centuries in the KFC Cup regional limited overs competition as he amassed 462 runs at an average of 115.50.

He also managed two centuries against South Africa in the four-Test series earlier this year.

AWARDS FOR LEON JOHNSON

Under-19 batsman, Leon Johnson, who hit the only double century in this year's West Indies Cricket Board youth tournament in St Vincent, won three awards but was unable to attend because of West Indies Under-19 duties in Trinidad.

Johnson won the Rohan Kanhai Trophy for Local Cricketer of the Year, the Lance Gibbs Award for Junior Cricketer of the Year and a Guysuco Award for the highest individual score in the regional Under-19 competition.
