Teenage cross-dresser exposed - Convicted for impersonating high-profile cops
published: Tuesday | December 20, 2005

A TEENAGE cross-dresser who has been impersonating senior female members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), in order to dupe unsuspecting members of the public, was convicted yesterday in the St. Ann Juvenile Court.

According to Detective Sergeant Leroy Chambers of the Ocho Rios CIB, the accused will return to court on January 16, 2006 for sentencing. He was convicted on charges of obtaining money by means of false pretence.

But while he has two more charges to answer to, the 17-year-old was arrested again last week for driving away a motor vehicle without the owner's consent and malicious destruction of property.

The youth, who was out on bail, gave the police a different name and told the officers that he was 13 years old. He also confused the police by dressing like a girl, with false breasts and a hairpiece. Because of the way he was attired, the lawmen took him to the Spanish Town Juvenile Centre, where he was remanded in custody among girls.

The cross-dresser was implicated in the impersonation of Assistant Commissioner of Police Novelette Grant and Superintendent Ionie Ramsay-Nelson.

Allegations are that the accused was part of a scam perpetrated by a group of persons working out of St. Mary and St. Ann, who frequently pretended to be high-profile cops in dire need of financial assistance. Several persons were hoodwinked by the group.
