Awaiting a great nation
published: Wednesday | December 21, 2005

THE EDITOR, Sir:

IT IS with a great deal of amusement that I have watched the present leadership struggle within the People's National Party (PNP). 'Sista P', Mr. P and Omar Davies have decided that after 16 years in office, they have found Alladin's magic. They have been in office and represented constituencies that have the highest murder rate in the country - 1,157 out of a total of 1,400 plus (Jamaica Observer, 12/7/05, p8). These figures exclude Tivoli Gardens. They seem to be perfectly happy knowing that people in their areas resort to scandal bags and the gully bank to take care of normal human needs. It is a global and national disgrace.

The PNP has lost its way and may God forgive them. It is the belief of the majority of Jamaicans that we the Jamaican people 'tiyad a unnuh'. It is my solemn belief that a Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) led by Bruce Golding will bring hope to the nation. Upon my mother's grave, I believe this will be the most prosperous time in Jamaica's history. The demonic forces that are at work must leave the nation. We cannot continue to chase away capital with high levels of crime.

Are you ready Jamaica? Patience. "And I beheld a great nation rise up out of the Caribbean, for none in that region was like her and her people spoke prosperity all the days of their lives." The first sign of the change began at the JLP conference on December 4. The second will be the quiet serving of notice to demit office. The third will be the elections and the final sign; the beginning of abundance. The world awaits a great nation.

I am, etc.,
