PATH payments to be increased
published: Thursday | December 22, 2005

BENEFICIARIES OF the Programme of Advancement Through Health and Education (PATH) will be getting an increase in their monthly allowances as of January 2006.

Minister of Labour and Social Security, Horace Dalley made the announcement on Tuesday at the National Insurance Fund (NIF) luncheon at the Terra Nova Hotel in Kingston.

The increases will see each beneficiary getting $530 per month, up from $400.

NON-COMPLIANCE RATE

Addressing the non-compliance rate among beneficiaries, where some 35,000 people were suspended in October for failure to have 80 per cent attendance at schools and the health clinics, the Minister said that there was no compromise on these requirements.

"We have said that you must have 80 per cent attendance rate and this is a must. I do not think that is asking too much," he said.
