Linstead, number one spot for Christmas eve shopping
published: Friday | December 23, 2005

LLUIDAS VALE, St. Catherine:

"LINSTEAD IS the number one grand market spot in Jamaica. People from near and far come here", stated one ground provision vendor at the market.

He told The Gleaner that at last year's event the town was jam-packed with vendors and shoppers to the extent that the Linstead police had to close Fletchers Avenue to vehicular traffic. He mentioned too, that King Street was virtually blocked on both sides with people, and that there was much eating and drinking, lots of music and just 'nuff niceness'.

Ann, a resident of the town, was at the last four grand market events. She said that the shopping and revelry lasted throughout the day and night and that she usually attended the late night parties. She believes that 2003 was the best of those years.
