King's contract delights manager
published: Saturday | December 24, 2005

LONDON (CMC):

Watford manager Aidy Boothroyd was a delighted man after the club signed Jamaican international player, Marlon King on a deal worth half million pounds sterling, earlier this week.

"Signing Marlon shows the intention of this club going forward. He is an important part of the platform we are building at Vicarage Road that will allow us, I believe to become a premier league football club," Boothroyd told the club's media.

"I am very pleased with the progress Marlon has made at the club in such a short space of time. He's become a firm favourite with the fans and his professional approach and attitude has meant he has quickly become a vital member of the team."

loan agreement

King was offloaded by Nottingham Forest at the start of the season to Watford in a loan agreement that also contained an 'Option to Buy' clause.

With the 25-year old King already banging in 12 goals to be the club's leading goal-scorer, Watford moved to sign the player and guarantee his future in the east of England.

Watford are currently third in the English Championships with 39 points, and are pushing for a promotion to the premiership next season.

"Marlon wants to play in the premier league. I am committed to realising this ambition not only for Marlon but for the thousands of Watford fans who have been waiting too long to see this club return to the top flight of English football," Boothroyd said.
