THE EDITOR, Sir:
GRANT ME the privilege of expressing my wish list for 2006.
I wish that all parents would take responsibility for their children and not leave it up to the Government to grow them and provide for them, since the Government did not procreate them.
I wish that every gunman who takes up a gun to do harm would see his mother, father, sister and brother in his victim and have a change of heart.
I wish that our politicians would 'look in the mirror', confess their past 'wrongs' and resolve to do their job with honesty and integrity. Each must first start with 'the man in the mirror'.
I wish that employees would give their best to their job, not siphoning off time or material and then blame the system, when it cannot pay them well; because they have robbed the establishment blind.
I wish that employers would stop chasing super-profit and invest in the welfare of the youngsters whose parents are financially challenged.
I wish that we who have much here in paradise, yet complain that 'nothing nah gwaan fe we' would extend some of our fortune to those who did not make it up the ladder.
I wish that all our churches would become churches without borders and recognise that we were told to extend our reach beyond our members. The Lord went everywhere, including where he was not welcome. He attracted and called to himself a mix of effective workers from all strata of the society.
I wish we would do the same.
I am, etc.,
S. WILLIAMS
