We got justice!
published: Friday | January 6, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM not surprised that the jury returned a 'not guilty' verdict in the Kraal trial. I followed the case and if I were on that jury, I would have returned the said verdict.

Those who are crying out the loudest against the verdict are those who say they believe in justice taking its course. Well, the defendants were indicted, tried and acquitted by a jury of their peers. Justice was served.

Congratulations to the men and women of the jury who did not bow to all the external considerations, but only considered the case put to them. The prosecution did not establish its case beyond a reasonable doubt.

I am, etc.,
