THE EDITOR, Sir:
WITH ALL the problems that Jamaica has, this country has taken the time to be neighbourly and extend help to the people of Haiti when it was needed. Many have been integrated into our society more than we could ever expect.
According to the article in your Sunday Gleaner of January 8, "there is the matter of gun smuggling from Haiti into the island through Clarendon connections," and "after observing certain activities, arrested two Haitian nationals."
TIME TO GO HOME
I believe it is time for the Haitians to be sent home. If our authorities had not taken them in, they would not have thought kindly of us. Now that they are here, we now have to put up with them contributing to corruption in our country.
We have enough problems being created by our own people. We do not need outsiders 'assisting' our gunmen to destroy their own people.
To the relevant authorities, it is time the Haitians go home! Stop waiting for things to get out of hand before making a decision!
I am, etc.,
