Scores pay last respects to young accident victim
published: Monday | January 30, 2006

SPANISH TOWN, St. Catherine:

TEARS FLOWED freely at the Irish Pen Seventh-day Adventist Church yesterday, where scores gathered to pay tribute to the memory of nine-year-old Tencia Hutchinson.

Little Tencia, who attended the Friendship Primary School was killed on December 31, after she was hit by a motor car.

At the funeral, students from Friendship Primary honoured the memory of their deceased schoolmate in song in a bereaved atmosphere.

INFECTIOUS PERSONALITY

According to Pauline Chin, who read the eulogy, little Tencia had an infectious personality that touched the lives of many.

Ms. Chin was moved to tears as she described her last days with the late student.

"She was a great inspiration to me and although only a child we shared so much together, simply put, she is gone too soon," she muttered.

But Tencia's mother Delores Tingling, was too overcome with grieve to speak. Throughout the funeral, the mourning mother stared listlessly.

The body of the nine-year-old girl was interred in the Dovecot Memorial Gardens.
