Rosanna Pike, St. Andrew - Sweet victory for Pike
published: Monday | February 6, 2006

PIKE

TWO YEARS of competing at the St. Andrew Parish Final finally brought its rewards for Rosanna Pike.

Her victory was especially sweet because being in eighth grade at Ardenne High, it was her last chance. She participated in grade six at St. Patrick's Primary in 2003, took a break in first form and came back for another try.

"I believe I could do this. I've seen changes since I've been studying. I'm not a natural speller, but a learned one, and since I've been doing my programme, I've got better," she reasoned.

"Rosanna is a fighter. She backs down from nothing. Anything that is challenging, she goes at it," says her mother Sheryl Bennett. She believes that the training she has received from the Rev. Glen Archer has toughened her for life.

With this confidence, Rosanna is expecting no less than a top-three finish. She wants to become a surgeon.
