THE EDITOR, Sir:
ON FRIDAY, January 13, 2006 my housekeeper (Jersey Wright) and I were involved in a serious car accident with another vehicle in the vicinity of Charles Street, downtown Kingston. The impact was so great that the car I was driving skidded, overturned and landed on its side. Residents immediately came to our rescue. With collective strength they turned the car to its upright position and assisted us out of the vehicle. At this point my housekeeper collapsed.
Although I was virtually in a daze, I cannot forget the care and kindness bestowed on us, people attended to her until the police arrived, someone retrieved our valuables from the wreckage and placed them in a carrier bag.
KIND WORDS
As I was led into the police car with kind words, our handbags were placed on my shoulder. In the vehicle, a carrier bag with our valuable contents was placed on my lap. We arrived at the KPH in a matter of seconds and were attended to immediately by the staff who gave us first-class treatment.
We give thanks to God for his divine intervention for without Him, the situation would have been far more serious. We publicly acknowledge and express our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the citizens of Charles Street, the Central Police Station and the staff of KPH in particular a special thanks to Dr. Nimard.
Our experience shows that out of every bad situation there is good, and that the majority of us are actually warm, loving and generous of spirit. We thank you, and God bless you.
We are, etc.,
