THE GLOBAL Positioning Systems group uses a number of print and electronic media to garner the most current news in the field. Three such magazines are GPS WORLD, Geospatial Solutions and Geo Intelligence.

GPS WORLD (www.gps world.com) does not concentrate on any one area but provides information about all aspects of GPS and related research. This magazine not only talks about applications, hardware and software but it also gives insight into emerging technologies, systems and the financial implications of any manoeuvres in the world of positioning technology.

Geospatial Solutions (www. geospatial-online.com) is an objective and authoritative forum for emerging intelligence about GIS and related spatial technologies. In this magazine, industry leaders and peers define issues and share solutions critical to forging a community among professionals from diverse application environments.

Geo intelligence (www.geoin telmag.com) through the voices of key decision makers, tech-nology innovators, and industry leaders, examines the programmes, systems, organisations, and initiatives that are transforming the U.S. military and homeland security strategies. It describes how GIS, GPS, imagery, 3D visualisation, and spatial data contribute to mission success.

It is recommended that the non-expert but interested reader pay special attention to GPS WORLD (www.gpsworld.com) magazine as it gives a clear view of the big picture with articles that will undoubtedly be of interest to any reader. The remaining two publications cater to more specialised interests, and in so doing are somewhat less useful to the casual reader.
