Star Cosmos set to keep top position
published: Saturday | February 18, 2006

LEADERS STAR Cosmos should maintain their two-point lead atop the Eastern Confederation Smirnoff Ice Super League when they tackle Benfica at Brimmer Vale High School tomorrow.

Match time is 3:00 p.m.

Star Cosmos, relegated from the National Wray & Nephew Premier League last season, are leading the 10-team league with 32 points, 22 more than bottom side Benfica (10).

However, if St. Mary's Star Cosmos lose or draw, mid-season champions Brazil of St. Ann could pass or join them with with their 10th win away to Iyantie of St. Thomas at Bull Pen.

Brazil are lying in second position on 30 points, nine more than struggling Iyantie (11).

In another game fourth-placed Bath of St. Thomas (21) take on third-placed St. George's (23) of Portland at Bath Primary and Junior High.

In last week's matches, Bath recorded the round's biggest win, a 3-1 victory over Axum.

Brazil beat Star Cosmos 1-0 at Drax Hall, St. George's edged Benfica 1-0 at Lynch Park, so too did Berlin over Iyantie at Paul Bogle Junior High while Port Morant and York ended 0-0 at Cotton Tree.
