Jimmy Adams ... struck a superb century for his old side Kingston at the weekend. - FILEFORMER WEST Indies captain Jimmy Adams returned to local cricket with a spectacular batting display at Sabina Park last week.
Playing for Kingston 'Tigers', Adams stroked an impressive century, which dug his team out of trouble in the Supreme Ventures Super Cup clash against Lucas.
Adams' innings of 158 was good enough to give him his first Gleaner Top Performer of the Week mantle.
The former West Indies left-handed batsman, who played 54 Test matches for the regional team between 1992 and 2001, was also instrumental in guiding young left-handed Jamie Trenchfield to his first Super Cup century.
171-RUN FOURTH
WICKET STAND
Adams, 158, and Trenchfield, 129, featured in a 171-run fourth wicket stand which saw Kingston advance from a precarious 64-3 to 407.
Adams, who scored six centuries for the West Indies, the best 208 not out, batted for more than five hours and faced 249 balls.
He hit 13 fours and two sixes, while the student Trenchfield, Jamaica's Under-19 captain, faced 176 deliveries and hit 17 fours and a six in 201 minutes.
