ANNOTTO BAY, St. Mary:

GROUND WAS broken for the expansion of the Annotto Bay High School in St. Mary recently. The smiles on the faces of the students, well wishers, and teachers at the institution expressed completely their happiness for the venture and their sincere gratitude for the contributions made.

The event was attended and endorsed by Members of Parliament Hon. Maxine Henry Wilson and Hon Harry Douglas, along with other distinguished guests.

The project which will be funded jointly by the Government's ROSE Project Phase II and a loan from the International Bank of Reconstruction and Development (World Bank) is a part of efforts of the Ministry of Education Youth and Culture to improve secondary education.

Member of Parliament Harry Douglas expressed gratitude for the project and Minister Henry-Wilson said that such an improvement would make the lives of students much better.

The project will include the construction of five classrooms, a staffroom to accommodate 10 teachers, staff bathroom, vice-principal's office, two computer labs, chemistry/physics laboratory, biology laboratory, a technology workshop and storerooms, food and nutrition laboratory, water storage tank, students' bathroom, multi-purpose asphalt paved court and outdoor seating area for students. The contract, which was issued to SWC Woodworking and Construction Limited, should be completed by April 2007.

Mr Lambert Robinson, the principal for the institution, expressed his sincere thanks to the ministry in investing in the lives of his students, and the community of Annotto Bay.
