Residents block road in Litchfield
published: Friday | March 24, 2006

MANDEVILLE, Manchester:

THE LITCHFIELD main road was blocked by angry residents demanding that the water tank in their community be repaired.

According to the residents, the tank that served the community fell into disrepair more than three years ago, leaving them with very few options to get water.

PROMISES

Councillor for the area, Leroy Mitchell, said that he has made representation to the Manchester Parish Council to have the situation addressed and expects that remedial work will be carried out soon. However, the residents said that they have been given promises before by the Government to have the tank repaired and to date nothing has been done.

They are calling on the Ministry of Water to take over the three abandoned water tanks in the area that are owned by the Coffee Industry Board.
