SPALDINGS, Clarendon:
CLASSES ARE expected to resume at the Spaldings High School in Clarendon this morning following three days of disruption due to a lack of water.
Principal of the school, Alphansus Davis, told The Gleaner that water was trucked to the school over the weekend by the National Water Commission (NWC).
But he said with only one truckload of water delivered to the school, there is no guarantee that classes will be held for the entire week as a 4,000-gallon container of water is not sufficient for the more than 100 teachers and 1,600 students at the institution.
He told The Gleaner yesterday that the institution needs more than 8,000 gallons of water daily.
In the meantime, the Spaldings High School principal said the NWC is responsibile for trucking water to the school.
But according to Mr. Davis given the company's inconsistency the school is incuring $500,000 each year to truck water from private sources.
