CAYMAN: Cayman expanding turtle farm

On March 23 Cayman's Legislative Assembly approved the issuance of a government guarantee for a new CI$5 million loan for the Turtle Farm (1983) Limited. This new guarantee now falls behind two other guarantees for millions of dollars on behalf of the Turtle Farm.

Moved by Honourable Kenneth Jefferson, to further substantiate the viability of the project, Mr. Jefferson said that the high visitor arrivals figure for January 2006, along with other positive factors in the tourism industry, assured the islands of the project's success. Mr. Jefferson said that upon completion the Turtle Farm would encompass more than 24 acres.
