NIGERIA: Charles Taylor disappears in Nigeria
ABUJA (REUTERS): Former Liberian president Charles Taylor, wanted for war crimes by a court in Sierra Leone, has disappeared from his residence in southeastern Nigeria, the Nigerian presidency said yesterday.
Afghan convert freed after outcry
KABUL (REUTERS): An Afghan threatened with execution for abandoning Islam for Christianity has been freed, Kabul said yesterday, after pressure from the Western states whose troops helped bring the Afghan government to power.
