Homosexuality is immoral
published: Wednesday | March 29, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

FOR WHATEVER reason, homosexuality seems to be a growing trend in our culture. From time to time, one hears about some big names who are involved in this abnormal and sinful lifestyle. Whether such rumours are true or not, the fact of the matter is that homosexuality is immoral, certainly, in so far as Christianity is concerned.

Should homosexual acts between two consenting adults in the privacy of their home be legalised? I think the answer to this question lies in the posing of another not dissimilar question : Should incest or adultery between two consenting adults in their private domains be legalised? The answer to the two above questions, for the Christian, ought to be a resounding NO! All moral issues should be judged according to one single, unequivocable measure, that is, what kind of personal behaviour is deemed to be Christian and what is not?

If Jamaica is a Christian country and calls itself a Christian country, then the gay and lesbian lifestyle must be deemed absolutely immoral and unacceptable.

As a result, the Government should not partake in any forum that seeks to legalise homosexual marriage, etc. Persons or groups that choose to use democratic ideals to justify their homosexual lifestyle/behaviour are making a grave mistake. If the homosexual lifestyle is legalised in Jamaica the nation will face the wrath of God because this lifestyle, as clearly stated in the Bible, is an abomination to the Lord. Christian principles should always take precedence over democratic principles - always!

I am, etc.,
