WESTERN BUREAU:
CHAIRMAN OF the multi-million dollar Shoppes of Rose Hall development in Montego Bay, Indru Dadlani, says that despite the cement problem in the island the project is on track for completion in July.
"We have a very good contractor, Implementation Limited, and each batch of cement they buy is tested for quality," Mr. Dadlani explained. "So the quality is not affecting us. What might affect us is the shortage."
Now nearing 40 per cent completion, the $750 million luxury shopping complex had faced speculation about meeting its deadline when it failed to start work after breaking ground in October of last year.
Despite a late start, project manager for the development John Marcocchio confirmed that the project is progressing well and will not be adversely affected by the cement shortage.
"We will make the deadline because right now we are ahead of schedule and there are other things that can be done while we wait on cement," Mr. Marcocchio said. There are other site works that can be carried out meanwhile.
With a proposed October 1, 2006 opening date, the Shoppes of Rosehall plaza will boast a diverse mix of 31 stores including luxury duty-free shops, a 12,000 square foot restaurant and a jewellery store.
The investors of the project are K Chandiram Limited, Daswani Jamaica Limited, Samtani Jamaica Limited, HK Mahtani and Sons, Khiatani Group and BD Dadlani Limited.
